Overview of job
Mission
● Lead our small high performance team of developers in building an audio platform for large numbers of users across Southeast Asia
● Main tools to build
- Audio self-publishing platform for creators
- Audio listening apps for users in multiple countries (starting with Vietnam and Indonesia)
- Random cool audio-related tech that excites us
● Main content categories:
- Podcasts (like iTunes, Spotify)
- Online Radio
- Online Education (like Masterclass, De Dao, Byju’s)
- Audio Livestream (like Spoon Radio, Lizhi)
- Audiobooks (like Audible, Ximalaya)
Key Responsibilities
● Lead a 5-10 person team of developers (frontend, backend, full-stack) in planning, architecting, and building our audio platform and audio tools
● Be willing to dive into code yourself to implement new features, fix bugs, and code review

● Work well with product managers, leadership, and UI / UX / designers
● Mentor, train, and develop the team for world-class performance
● Be comfortable in a high-growth, fast-paced, frequently changing environment
● Help founders and leadership make decisions about strategy and product roadmap

Job Requirement
Your Skills and Experience
Requirements
● Fluent in Vietnamese
● Proficient in English
● 5 years of experience developing mobile or full-stack applications (our tech stack is primarily React Native, although we intend to develop native mobile apps in the near future)
● Experience scaling technology products and services to large userbases (a minimum of 100K DAUs)
● Experience managing teams from ideation to deployment to refactoring / optimization
● Server-side / Middleware experience (REST API services, microservices)
● Working experience and best practices with React Native libs, React Component, AsyncStorage, Redux
Good to have
● Understanding of UI and UX principles and experience with app design
● Interest in audio, such as music, playing instruments, audio / video editing, making podcasts, listening to audiobooks
● Prior startup experience - and desire to operate in high growth, fast paced environments
● Experience with app publishing, such as working with Apple App Store’s publishing (& TestFlight), and Google Play store publishing

Waves is an audio platform for Vietnam and Indonesia.
We are building a super app for all things audio: audiobooks, podcasts, online education, and entertainment, with a focus on local language content. We are looking for talented and enthusiastic core team members to join on our adventure.
We hope Waves will change the way people experience audio in the same way that Youtube has changed the way we experienced video and how Instagram changed the way we experience images.
