Overview of job

The Sr. Software Engineer (back-end &devOps) will work in our development team to combines aspects of a technical role and an IT operations role. While engineers are likely to be involved with coding, and a knowledge of coding languages and principles is required to find problems and build solutions, this is not the primary role of a devOps engineer. This senior engineer will be more involved in the project management and planning side of development. The ideal candidate is an individual who thrives on new challenges, possesses a strong back-end development background.

Responsibilities: 

• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure
• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers
• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results
• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
• Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’
• Working with software developers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
• Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions.

Experience and Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in overall software development on both back-end and front-end
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large, scalable web applications
• Know command line video tools (e.g ffmpeg)
• Experience working with AWS cloud platform and technologies
• Experience with devOps and Agile principles
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English 
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science
• Experience with Microservice architecture

Other desirable personal qualities and skills:

• Overseas education and/or working experience is a BIG plus
• Strong problem-solving skills
