We’re seeking an exceptionally talented Senior Backend Engineer to work closely with other engineers, designers and product owners to develop reliable, performant, secure and scalable systems. 

Success in this role requires a willingness to take initiative in discovering all aspects of the backend systems. It also requires applying that knowledge to debug issues and to develop robust solutions for the business.

Things you will do

• Contribute to and lead engineering efforts from planning to execution
• Maintain, extend, and clean up legacy PHP systems
• Design and develop new PHP and Python services to support the migration away from our monolithic PHP application towards a services based architecture Senior Software Engineer
• Work closely with QA engineers to maintain excellent coverage of automated tests (unit, functional, integration and performance tests)
• Take the time to do thorough code reviews and leave thoughtful feedback

• 04+ years of professional work experience writing backend (server side) code
• Advanced experience with PHP & OOP
• Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, Postgres) and MongoDB (including schema design)
• Experience building APIs or services using RESTful principles
• The drive to constantly hone your craft - designing and building robust and maintainable systems
• The ability to discuss and explain system architecture and component design
• A desire to mentor and set a positive example for junior and mid-level engineers
• Good English communication (listening/speaking) skills

Bonus point if you have experience/knowledge with

• Python & Django
• Building and maintaining a large-scale customer facing website
• Redis or a caching layer
• Elasticsearch
• Docker and Kubernetes
