In the responsible position of the Java Backend Engineer, the future position holder is responsible to build the next generation of APIs and Services. As a Java Backend Engineer, you are responsible for the development and maintenance of our backend components to ensure stabilization and enable our exclusive services for our customers.

Challenge:

• Work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to own and solve problems from end-to-end
• Design, build and maintain APIs, services, frontends, and systems across HRS' engineering teams
• Build new features for internal and external users
• Work with engineers across the company to build new features and services at large-scale
• Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter

• Strong backend engineering background with more than 3 years of relevant, on-the-job experience 
• Enjoyment for being a generalist working on our backend (mostly Java 8), with good knowledge of AWS services, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users
• Knowledge & skills in systems and services and writing high-quality code. We work mostly in Java and React. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework
• The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
• Pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems
• The ability to stitch together many different services and processes together even if you have not worked with them before
• The ability to put themselves in the shoes of the users and be a steward of crafting great experiences
• Enjoyment in working with a diverse group of people with different expertise
