Overview of job

As a Quality Assurance Lab Engineer in our camera systems group, you will provide critical support by setting up, maintaining, and calibrating the physical lab environment and camera hardware necessary for automated and manual software testing.

Your primary responsibility will be ensuring that all embedded camera systems, appliances, and related physical infrastructure are properly configured, functioning, and ready for the QA Automation team to execute their tests, particularly those involving Computer Vision and AI algorithms. This role requires technical proficiency in hardware setup, networking, and basic script execution to facilitate seamless testing of our intelligent embedded camera systems.

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Lab Technician/Engineer who can ensure the physical readiness and stability of our Vietnam embedded AI testing lab.
  • The ideal candidate is passionate about the meticulous preparation of the test environment and is a crucial enabler for successful commercial system deployments.
  • The Quality Assurance Lab Engineer will be responsible for the hands-on setup, configuration, and maintenance of the physical hardware—cameras, network appliances, and supporting infrastructure—that forms the core intelligence of our security surveillance cameras, appliances, and cloud services. This role directly supports the Quality Assurance Automation Engineers by ensuring all test beds are correctly calibrated and provisioned for timely deployment of new features and bug fixes.
  • This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance engineers, firmware engineers, and field support technicians, to manage the test environment and help troubleshoot hardware and setup-related issues to ensure successful software releases.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain embedded camera hardware, network appliances, and physical testing rigs in the QA lab environment.
  • Ensure all test hardware is running the correct firmware versions and is provisioned according to test plan specifications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and network connectivity issues within the test environment.
  • Manage the inventory of testing devices, including check-in/check-out procedures and status tracking.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Engineers in executing manual test cases, focusing on hardware-specific functionality and physical setup verification.
  • Collaborate with the quality team to ensure real and synthetic video datasets are correctly streamed or loaded onto test devices.
  • Perform basic maintenance and calibration of cameras and sensors to ensure consistent testing conditions.
  • Support cross-functional teams in reproducing field-reported hardware and setup issues.
  • Conduct off-site outdoor field testing of camera hardware setup and data collection for analytics features.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or equivalent experience from a technical engineering discipline.
  • 6-10 years of experience in hardware lab support, technical field support, or a Quality Assurance role focused on physical device testing/setup.
  • Hands-on experience with the setup, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of IoT devices, embedded systems, or camera hardware.
  • Proficiency in basic networking concepts (IP addressing, routers, switches) to configure test beds.
  • Basic scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash) to assist in device provisioning or log collection is a plus.
  • Ability to physically set up and manage complex test environments, including cabling and mounting hardware.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail in tracking lab assets and configuration changes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot physical and environmental issues, think critically, and drive timely resolution of lab setup problems.
