Overview of job

As a Manager, Solution Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Lead the design, delivery, and management of the Group Data Platform (Microsoft Azure Cloud) for big data analytics and operational use.
• Architect and implement Data Processing, ETL/ELT frameworks, and Data API solutions to enable data-as-a-service (DaaS).
• Collaborate with data science and MLOps teams to support AI and machine learning deployment.
• Drive enterprise API management, technical direction, and best practices for API design and implementation.
• Mentor and manage data engineers, production support engineers, and external vendors.
• Ensure successful delivery of data initiatives in synergy with business and technology stakeholders.
• Champion agile practices and continuous improvement in data delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years’ experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a managerial role and regional exposure.
• Strong expertise in big data management, cloud platforms (Azure required), data architecture, and API management.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Blobstorage, Synapse, Machine Learning Studio, and real-time streaming (Kafka, Spark, Flume).
• Proficiency in database technologies (MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, NoSQL, MongoDB), DevOps automation, and container solutions (AKS, Docker).
• Solid understanding of data governance, analytics, visualization, and agile development.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and people leadership skills.
• Insurance industry experience is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Be familiar with the construction and design of enterprise data warehouse, have experience in management and design of large-scale data warehouse, and be familiar with data modelling methodology. Familiar with big data ecosystem, have a certain understanding of big data technology ecosystem;
• Solid understanding on Azure Data Management Solution including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blobstorage (Gen2), Azure Synapse and Azure Machine Learning Studio.
• Strong sense of responsibility, meticulous work, conscientious and practical work, and strong ability of hands-on and learning new technology;
• Has AI model development and deployment experience 
• Good communication skills, good English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills
• Working experience in insurance industry is preferred
