**Job Overview**
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Database Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role combines deep database expertise, especially in Oracle, with modern DevOps practices, focusing on automating, deploying, and managing robust Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platforms on Kubernetes in hybrid cloud environments.
As a DevOps Database Engineer, you’ll bridge database engineering and DevOps, specializing in automation, orchestration, and reliability of databases on Kubernetes. Your primary focus is to design, automate, and manage scalable DBaaS platforms, ensuring efficiency, security, and resilience.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Dedicate at least 50% of your time to architecting, deploying, and administering databases, with a strong emphasis on Oracle, alongside PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, and other NoSQL systems.
- Design, implement, and manage highly available, secure database platforms across on-premises, cloud, and Kubernetes environments.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new database technologies and tooling to maintain a cutting-edge platform stack.
- Support and automate database lifecycle management (provisioning, backups, scaling, patching, and upgrades).
- Collaborate closely with development, platform, and infra teams to deliver integrated database solutions.
- Ensure database availability, reliability, security, and performance through proactive monitoring, alerting, and optimization.
- Lead incident management and troubleshooting, and perform root-cause analyses for database-related issues.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi), CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps practices to enhance operational efficiency.

**Requirements:**
- 4+ years of experience in Database Engineering/Administration, with at least 2 years heavily focused on DevOps and automation.
- Deep expertise in Oracle databases (installation, migration, tuning, security, HA/DR).
- Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and distributed NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis).
- Solid grasp of new/emerging data platforms, e.g., cloud-native DBaaS, managed big data stores, and database observability tools.
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes for deploying and orchestrating databases (e.g., Operator frameworks, StatefulSets).
- Strong automation skills using scripting/programming (Python, Go, Bash).
- Experience with hybrid cloud infrastructure designs (approx. 70% on-premises, 30% multi-cloud).
- Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi), configuration management (Ansible), and GitOps workflows.
- Practical exposure to virtualization (VMWare/Proxmox/HCI) and system troubleshooting.
- Sound understanding of UNIX/Linux internals, networking, load balancers (Nginx/HAProxy), and message/caching systems (Redis, RabbitMQ).
- Practical knowledge of monitoring/observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Thanos).
**Preferred Qualities:**
- Flexible to support maintenance windows, database patching, critical incidents, and OT when necessary.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
