- Designs, develops, constructs, tests and maintains Data Warehouse (SQL + Hadoop-based), data processing pipeline and large-scale processing systems.
- Extract, transform, validate and load data from multiple sources from both within and outside VNDirect’s system to a centralized Data Warehouse for business intelligence and further busines-driven insights analysis.
- Advise, recommend and sometimes help other teams and functions implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality as well as app performance (by improving operational database).
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Delivers the data to the data science & data analysis team by developing data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production and delivers read-only data to product development teams by APIs (mostly REST, but also open to GraphQL)
- Willing to learn about the business side of the company to help with data processing / design.

Your Skills and Experience
- We are speficifically looking for a candidate with 3+ years of experience in programming and at least 1+ year in a Data Engineer role.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Applied Math and other closely related field is highly preferred, though not strictly required for candidates with directly related work experiences.
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres / MS SQL Server / MySQL and Cassandra / MongoDB / ElasticSearch. Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.
- Experience with object-oriented programming and comfortable with multiple programming languages and / or demonstrate the ability to pick up new languages quickly. Advanced-level Python and SQL required with working knowledge of Java and / or Scala. Experience with data science toolkit for Python such as numpy, pandas is a plus, as well as related libararies such as scikit-learn, statsmodel, matplotlib, etc. Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
- Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, database architectures and data sets is highly preferred. Experience build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management as well. A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets is a big plus. Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and models is a plus.
