As a Game Server Developer at Athena, you will be part of a dedicated game team, deploying and providing support for our mobile multiplayer game servers. You'll be responsible for making sure that our millions of daily players get the best, most uninterrupted experience possible.
We aim for minimal downtime in our core systems. You are expected to be able to respond to and troubleshoot a wide range of issues in a production environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of highly-scalable online mobile games.
- Collaborating with team members and game developers to clarify and define concepts, use cases, and requirements.
- Developing game prototypes.
- Always available when products have issues.
- Game teams are typically small, and Game Server Developer will contribute to game design discussions

Your Skills and Experience
- Enthusiasm towards games in general
- Experience in designing, developing, operating and maintaining a production system, preferably in online mobile games
- Excellent programming skills – minimum of 3 years experience with server-side backends, preferably in Java/NodeJS/C#
- Advanced knowledge of Client/Server paradigm
- Experience with cloud computing, preferably Photon/PlayFab/Google Cloud
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database
- Ability to write a solid, specific and clear specification that ensures a strong product and get everyone on the same page
- Highly responsible, self-motivated and team player
- Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with strong attention to details
- Accountability and Ownership with a strong commitment
- An open and respectful attitude towards others and their work
- Good English level, written and spoken
