Senior Backend Engineer (Java, PHP, ROR)

The Day-to-Day activities:

• You will participate in technical and product review meetings.
• Experience coding in one or more of the following: Golang, Java, C#, C++, C, Scala, Rust, Haskell, OCaml, Erlang, Python, Ruby, PHP, Node.JS, etc.
• You ensure the timely delivery of high quality, maintainable and operationally excellent code
• You are responsible for delivering high quality, bug-free code
• You are accountable for the timely closure of all the assigned code review and design reviews
• You support the SRE and DevOps team to setup hardware and microservices infrastructure
• You are required to participate in team on-call rotation to help us achieve operational excellence
• You will drive and take more leadership in projects, and help bring in different project stakeholders into the same picture.

We care a great deal about code quality. We often go back and improve core parts of the codebase to make it better or more lean. We can do this because of great test coverage which will immediately sound the alarm when something goes wrong.

We ship on quality instead of on time. When a feature is ready we deploy it immediately to everyone or use an internal system to roll it out to a certain percentage of customers. Various teams deploy new code many times throughout the day.

The must haves:

• You have Heart, Hunger, Honour and Humility
• You have at least 3.5 years of experience software engineer - preferably with at least 3 years of relevant experience, with strong Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures
• You have a degree in Engineering and a specialization in CS/IT will be an advantage
• You are well versed in system performance and scaling
• You have working knowledge of building back end systems around DBMS, Caches, NoSQL and App servers. Experience in building cloud service would be an advantage
• You are proficient in at least one programming language and the fundamentals of CS such as Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems etc.
• You showcase proactivity and creativity and understand the right balance between product, engineering, and business needs
• You grok distributed systems
• Your prior experience in building consumer facing product will be an advantage
• Your prior experience in building OLTP systems will be an advantage
