Based in New Zealand and expanded into the US, Hectre is a SaaS company that helps fruit growers and packers produce and market more quality fruit, with less environmental impact. Formed in 2016, we are now a world-leading fruit tech company and our products are being used in 11+ countries. 

After recently raising $3.5mil, we have an ambitious development plan and we're looking for talents like you to turn that plan into reality. Join us as a Senior Python Backend Engineer for Spectre, our Computer Vision-powered product that provides 95%+ accuracy prediction for fruit size and color. You'll be expected to

• Take ownership of your own projects to build/maintain new product features and CI/CD pipeline
• Work along with other members from the R&D and development team to
  • Deploy AWS MLOps, DevOps, and AWS cloud services
  • Build and maintain Spectre backend flow
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of your work
• Guide and mentor other members of the development team
• Share your ideas and participate in group discussions
• Assist with our customer's inquiries and problems

• Great communication in English (verbal and written)
• 3+ years of strong Python programming experience using best backend pattern practices
• You are confident to design and implement cloud solutions (AWS) and MLOps pipelines
• Experience in using popular MLOps frameworks like Kubeflow, MLFlow or SageMarker’s eco tools
• Good knowledge of CI/CD, building infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), deploying container orchestration (ECS/Kubernetes) in commercial projects
• Familiar with test fixtures, test cases, and test suites with unit-test frameworks such as Pytest, Unit test
• You are not a DB admin but you have enough experience in structure and unstructured DB
• You are independent and take responsibility for the quality of your code
• You believe in creating robust processes to minimize downtime and rework
• You have got passion and enthusiasm and are eager to learn new things
• Able to work independently as well as in a team: you know how to communicate, how to push back, how to share your opinion, and follow through on your commitments
  
  Nice-to-haves
• Good knowledge of ML frameworks such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, Keras
• Python API development with Flask API, FastAPI, API gateway, Lambda function
• Familiar with ML models training/deployment with SSD, Mask R-CNN, Object tracking, Computer vision
• Utilize services with AWS Cloud native services
• Experience working in a diverse and international team
• Knowledge about horticulture or the horticulture industry
