ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to work on and improve our infrastructure, which fully runs on AWS. You are going to work with Kubernetes and Docker in a microservices architecture, and your main responsibility is to implement infrastructure requirements, some of which you may define yourself as you aim to improve our status quo. This is a key position for us, which has great growth potential as you will be involved in conversations with our international e-commerce subsidiaries. This will allow you to build a professional network that spans the globe.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

• Improve a product that hundreds of thousands of end users interact with daily.
• Improve and maintain our Kubernetes clusters.
• Designing and implementing infrastructure components from proof-of-concept to production.
• Work with data-intensive applications.
• Perform stress tests.
• Perform automations that help our developers save time, and reduce the cost of the organization.
• Proactively improve the overall platform and our monitoring.
• Troubleshoot issues in the production environment, including network issues.
• Share your knowledge with other members in the team.

• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Ideally, previous experience as a software engineer.
• Thorough knowledge in computer networking, both from a theoretical and a practical perspective.
• Ability to write code in a mainstream programming language, preferably Go.
• Understanding of how the backend and frontend interact with each other.
• Experience in maintaining data-intensive applications.
• Experience with setting up Githhub Actions or other CI/CD frameworks.
• Experience with setting up application monitoring, e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic, DataDog.
• Expert knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure, including virtual networks.
• Hands-on knowledge of the k8s ecosystem.
• Experience with Terraform.
• Good Linux background.
• Passion for developing infrastructure-as-code and automated testing.
• Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions and take ownership.
• Familiarity with a large part of our software stack (Gloo, K8S, Envoy, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Go, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, gRPC, REST, DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, Airflow, S3).
