Live Payments is seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join our growing/multinational team. Reporting directly to our Vietnam-based Tech Lead, the Backend Developer will work closely with the development team to design and build applications for our growing product portfolios. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-throughput, low-latency backend services using Node.js and Golang
• Build and maintain high-performance APIs with strict performance and reliability requirements
• Design and maintain scalable microservices capable of handling high transaction volumes
• Ensure idempotency, consistency, and fault tolerance across processing flows
• Implement robust error handling, retry strategies, and reconciliation processes
• Work closely with DevOps teams to improve observability, monitoring, and alerting
• Participate in architecture and performance design reviews
• Conduct code reviews with a strong focus on performance, security, and reliability

Required Skills

• Strong backend development experience with Node.js and Golang
• Deep understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and multithreading
• Proven experience building high-performance or high-traffic systems
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API, socket protocol, design and backend architecture
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server) and transactional data modelling
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, idempotency)
• Solid experience with performance profiling and optimisation
• Familiarity with security best practices for backend systems
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Professional English communication

Desirable Skills

• Experience working on payment gateways, fintech, or financial systems
• Knowledge of AS2805, ISO 8583, ISO 20022 or equivalent payment message formats.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS or payment security standards
• Experience handling peak traffic, failover, and disaster recovery
• Knowledge of rate limiting, throttling, and traffic shaping
• Design systems that operate reliably across multiple cloud providers (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Optimise system performance across CPU, memory, I/O, and network latency
