Work from our office in Ho Chi Minh City.
We are hiring for a data scientist specialized in Natural Language Processing (NLP) as we launch a California, USA based technology startup. The venture involves building machine learning and artificial intelligence tools in the construction industry. Your role will be to extract information applying both rule-based statistical model and Machine Learning/Deep Learning. This job offers an opportunity to grow as the venture evolves.
You will learn eXtreme Programming (XP) and Scrum agile development methods which include paired programming, Behavior Driven Development (BDD), Test Driven Development (TDD), and emergent business-value prioritized development.
You should only apply for this position if you have a strong background in some or all of the following: computer science, mathematics, statistics, programming.

Your Skills and Experience
- A strong background in mathematics and statistics.
- Commercial experience in NLP solutions, whether it is conversational AI, information extraction, text summarization, or sentiment analysis.
- Proficient in the scientific Python stack: numpy, matplotlib/seaborn, pandas, scikit-learn, Jupyter notebook, etc.
- Experience in some of the following tools in the NLP stack: NLTK, spaCy, Stanford CoreNLP, word2vec, glove, fastText, Google BERT, gensim.
- Solid foundation in traditional machine learning algorithms, from Naive Bayes, Linear Regression, SVM, KNN, to random forest and boosted trees.
- Experience in building, training, and evaluating deep neural networks using Google Tensorflow or Pytorch.
- Willing to work and wrangle with messy and incomplete data. Comfortable with SQL and Unix (MacOS or Linux command line).
- Education: We prefer a degree in science, computer science, mathematics, statistics or economics from a top Vietnamese or foreign university.
- Excellent logic skills.
- Good verbal English communications skills.
- Prefer experience working in an agile development environment using eXtreme Programming and/or SCRUM.
- Willing to work closely and continuously with other researchers and programmers, almost never working alone.
