Job description

Overview of job

  • Serve as the primary business analysis liaison between Papaya and international insurance partners (Life & Non-life), translating complex insurance domain requirements into clear, actionable product specifications.
  • Lead requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis for core insurance workflows including: Fraud/Waste/Abuse (FWA) detection, Claim automation, New Business submission, Underwriting, Customer Experience, and Digital Transformation initiatives.
  • Analyze and document end-to-end business processes for claim adjudication, policy servicing, and underwriting — identifying opportunities for automation and AI-powered enhancements.
  • Collaborate with international stakeholders across multiple time zones to elicit, validate, and prioritize requirements — ensuring alignment between partner expectations and Papaya’s product roadmap.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables: Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications, user stories, process flow diagrams, data mapping documents, and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with engineering and UX/UI teams to ensure requirements are feasible, well-understood, and delivered to specification — participating in sprint planning, grooming, and review sessions.
  • Support the design and configuration of FWA rules engines, claim automation workflows, and underwriting decision models by providing domain expertise and business logic documentation.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research on insurance technology trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices across international markets.
  • Facilitate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) with insurance partners, managing defect triage and ensuring delivered solutions meet business objectives.
  • Contribute to building Papaya’s insurance domain knowledge base — documenting industry terminologies, regulatory nuances, and partner-specific configurations across markets.

Job Requirement

  • 1–3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in insurance, insurtech, or financial services. Fresh graduates with strong analytical skills and genuine interest in insurance will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of insurance domain fundamentals: policy lifecycle, claim processing, underwriting principles, reinsurance concepts, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working with or strong interest in FWA detection, claim automation, and digital transformation projects in insurance.
  • Proficiency in requirements documentation: BRDs, functional specs, user stories, process flows (using tools like Jira, Confluence, Miro, Lucidchart, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — ability to decompose complex insurance processes into structured, implementable components.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written) — comfortable presenting to and negotiating with international stakeholders and C-level executives.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel/Google Sheets advanced functions, SQL basics) is a plus.
  • Understanding of API integrations, system architecture concepts, and how technology enables insurance operations is a strong advantage.
  • Can-do attitude, attention to detail, and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proactive in work, eager to learn, with strong self-study and high-level technology research capabilities, especially in AI applications for insurance.
  • Willingness to work across time zones when collaborating with international partners.
